1/6/24

For the first time in 3 years, I spent December outside of New York. And while I missed Christmas on Waverly Place, these are some things that made this the best December yet. So, without further ado, a collection of things in no particular order that made my December cozy and sweet, even when so far from home.
Pastel de Nata
Starting off simple, pastel de nata. I love starting my day with a coffee and something sweet. Pastel de nata is my current pastry of choice, my sweet fixation of the moment. I’d love to learn to make them myself, but some things are better left to the professionals.
Cute Keychains
Of course keychains are nothing new, but I’ve been obsessed with personalization lately and I think keychains are the perfect way to do it. This one is actually on my keys, but I think it would be so cute on a bag or maybe even a belt. Also such a classic and fun souvenir or gift, I actually gave this exact key chain to a few friends recently as well.
Silver Rain Boots
I’ve heard utility in fashion is in, and what is more useful than a pair of rain boots. They’re simple and cute as well as keep you nice and dry. I got this pair off Vinted for 20 euros and they have definitely paid off. Though I’m not walking through New York City flash floods anymore, they make for great winter beach shoes.
Pancakes
Perhaps there is a theme to this list of going back to the simple things I loved as a little girl. Pancakes are definitely one of them, so simple and so delicious. The ones above are the Plain Jane Stack from Gringa all day in Barcelona. Always feels so nostalgic and cozy for winter. Reminds me of my Pancakes for Dinner christmas party on Waverly place in 2022, you can never go wrong with pancakes.
Ceramic Painting
Again with the theme of things I loved as a little girl. I’ve been hoping to get into pottery soon (will keep you all updated on that) but until then have been loving going for pottery painting. A fun creative activity and you get a custom piece of pottery! It also made for great personalized gift giving this season.
Vintage Silver Nikes
Another amazing vinted find. I’m not sure the exact model but the mint green nike swoosh is so cute and feels very unique. I was feeling like a lot of my outfits were getting ruined by sneakers that were too basic, and though these aren’t exactly the most comfortable if I’m honest, they’ve saved quite a few outfits this month.
Super glue (for my vintage silver nike)
Re- silver nikes not being so comfortable. I’ve used this glue I purchased from the bazaar more than I’d like to admit, and have it in my purse at all times in case of a rogue sole. But that's the price I’ve had to pay for fabulous 6 euro shoes, and honestly this glue has fixed many other things. Definitely a December favorite.
By Zoya Skirt Sample
She’s gray, she’s pleated, she’s wool, and I’m in love with her. I’ve worn this skirt sample at least once a week all month long and I can’t wait to release it. The most flattering skirt in my closet. And it is coming very soon! Will hopefully share more about the process here.
Miracle Orange
Last but not least, a very delicious bottle of local Spanish orange wine. It tastes like a typical sauvignon blanc but with a fun fruity twist. I’ve never purposefully bought into the hype around natural wine, and I’m not even sure what it means really, but I do love supporting small producers, and love a yummy wine. This has led me to a few natural wines lately, this being the most recent. The about section of their website is titled ‘Dónes i déus’ translating to ‘Women and Gods’ and tells a story of three generations of women producing this fabulous wine. Delicious, female produced, and only 15 euros.
